Guidance for the collection of sWEEE
What is sWEEE?
sWEEE is any waste item with a plug, battery or cable that is less than 50 centimetres on its longest edge. This includes all your organisation’s unwanted small tech and electricals including for example, laptops, phones, kettles, toasters, medical devices, lamps and lighting and power tools.
The full legal definition, including a list of illustrative sWEEE items, can be found in annex 5 of the Separate Collection of Waste Materials for Recycling: A Code of Practice for Wales. This definition includes household-like sWEEE such as kettles and toasters as well as more specialist non-household like items such as handheld medical devices and industrial instruments and tools.
Section 5 of the Code of Practice has further details on which premises are obligated under the Law.
